Case Study:
Podcast Transcription

The Context

A two‑host weekly podcast, known for its lively point/counterpoint format and conversational overlap, wanted to provide polished, listener‑friendly transcripts for all existing and future episodes. While their hosting platform offered auto-generated transcripts, the output was frequently inaccurate, poorly formatted, and difficult for listeners to follow.

The hosts wanted transcripts that reflected the quality of their show and supported their long-term goals: accessibility, SEO, and repurposable content.

The Challenge

The auto‑generated transcripts struggled with:

  • Frequent speaker overlap

  • Incorrect or missing speaker identification

  • Long, unbroken paragraphs

  • Distracting auto‑inserted timestamps every sentence or two

The hosts needed a human‑edited solution that captured nuance, tone, and clarity of their conversations without slowing down their production schedule.

The Solution

I provided 100% human transcription and manual editing, ensuring each transcript was accurate, readable, and aligned with the show’s conversational rhythm. My process included:

  • Re‑paragraphing for clarity and flow

  • Correctly identifying speakers throughout the transcript

  • Using clean, consistent timestamps at each idea shift and speaker change

  • Restructuring sentences when needed for readability

  • Applyingight editorial judgment to preserve tone while improving coherence

To help reduce future overlap, I also suggested a simple “hand‑off” cue during recording: a small operational tweak that improved clarity in subsequent episodes.

The Outcome

Across 21 episodes, the podcast gained:

Clear, listener‑friendly transcripts

Each transcript became a polished, accessible companion to the audio, easy to read, easy to skim, and easy to reference.

Improved SEO performance

Well‑formatted transcripts typically contribute to a 15–20% increase in organic traffic or keyword rankings based on industry benchmarks. For this podcast, transcripts created new entry points for search engines and expanded discoverability.

Repurposable content for marketing

The hosts began utilizing transcript excerpts for:

  • Social media snippets

  • Website quotes

  • Episode summaries

  • Promotional graphics

A smoother production workflow

With a consistent transcription process in place, the hosts could publish transcripts alongside new episodes without additional effort.
